Norman A. Evans, 80, of Lecanto, FL, passed away on Sat., Oct. 1, 2022 at Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto. A native of Buffalo, NY, Norman was born March 5, 1942 to William and Connie (Melanowski) Evans, one of two children. Norman served his country honorably and proudly in the U.S. Army in 1959 and enjoyed a long sales career in the construction industry. Mr. Evans moved to Citrus County in 2008 from Holiday, FL and his perfect day would revolve around hanging out with his family, watching his beloved Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and enjoying the company of his two doggies; Buddy and Sasha. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives; Diana in 1966 and Sharon in 2020, as well as his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Julie Backert, and a grandchild T.J. Gawor. Norman is survived by two children: Bill Evans (wife Debbie), Lecanto, FL and Paul Evans (wife Gigi D.) of New Port Richey; grandchildren Jimmy Evans, Dunedin, FL; Paul Evans, Jr. (Missie Cothard), New Port Richey, FL; Derek Windler, Lecanto, FL; Jenni Sommer (J.C.), Palm Harbor, FL and Dyana Shriver (Cody), Davenport, WA; great grandchildren Damian Gawor, Port Richey, FL; Hailie Cothard, Port Richey, FL; Gage Sommer, Palm Harbor, FL; Jacob Evans, Port Richey, FL; Isaiah Sommer, Palm Harbor, FL; Jacks Windler, Lecanto, FL; Triton, Eden and Luna Shriver, all of Davenport, WA and Nolan Sommer, Palm Harbor, FL, as well as his sister Dorothy (husband Walter). Military honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Thurs., Oct. 27, 2022 at 11:30 AM with the Florida Army National Guard and American Legion Post 155 of Crystal River, FL rendering honors.
