Jenny loved the childhood memories of her family and friends in her home town of Wheaton. Childhood highlights included the family’s vacations each summer to the lakes in Minnesota where fishing was king…catching walleye, northern pike and many others. She excelled in academics and sports while attending Wheaton Central High School, Class of 1981. Jenny showed her strength, confidence and determination in becoming the first person in her entire family to attend college. She attended the University of Illinois where her love of tennis had her vying for the one spot available on the tennis team. She took on over 200 athletes, won the spot and went on to play tennis for Illinois throughout her college career. She graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance degree with academic and athletic honors.
Jenny’s first job out of college was in the future bond pit of the Chicago Board of Trade. This was a tough profession as less than 3% of the entire trading floor were women, but Jenny had been there before. She took on the challenge and gained the utmost respect of her peers, traders and customers, which is still evident today.
After her years with the board of trade, Jenny embraced the idea of being at home raising three children while managing everything that had to do with home life. She is super proud of her children and their accomplishments. She had a full and enjoyable life of traveling the world, enjoying her hobbies, scrapbooking, visiting her family in Florida, the Buxton Cottage and the Shore Shack. What she loved the most were the relationships she had with her family and friends. Jenny’s spirit, attitude and absolute love of life will always be remembered and missed. Please celebrate the times that she brought happiness and joy to your lives.
Jenny is survived by her husband of 30 years. Douglas Buxton and their children Brooke, Robert and William Buxton; parents Allen and Beverly Matz; brothers Mark and Richard and his family Becky, Shea and Madison Matz; and a host of aunts , uncles, cousins and friends.
