Doris Fox Moore

Doris Fox Moore, 83, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Fri., August 19, 2022. Born November 29, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Clara (Auwaerter) and Ernest T. Fox. She and her husband Joseph Moore Jr were married on February 18, 1961 and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Doris was a school administrator in East Stroudsburg, PA for over 25 years. She was an avid snow skier, enjoyed baking and spending time traveling around the world with her husband. Upon retiring to the Sugarmill Woods area in 2004, she became an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Crystal River where she was an active leader of the Women’s Group and helped organize the World’s Greatest Baby Shower. She read scripture at Sunday services and participated in St. Timothy’s annual Granny’s Attic charity event. Doris was also active for 15 years with the International and local PEO Sisterhood charity organization. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband Joe, she is survived by two sons: Joseph III and his wife Denise and Richard Scott and his wife Sarah; sister Elizabeth Barbee and brother Ernest Fox Jr as well as four grandsons: Konrad, Maxwell, Joseph IV and Jonathan. Doris was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1070 N. Suncoast Blvd., Crystal River, FL will held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow the service at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 12:30 PM The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the memory of Doris be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
