Roy Donaldson Jr.

Sidney Roy Donaldson, Jr., loving husband and father, passed away on October 17, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl D. Donaldson and his two sons, Christopher R. Donaldson and Andrew R. Donaldson.

Roy graduated from Fairfield High School and then from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with an Occupational Therapy degree and a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. He was first employed by Partlow, Tuscaloosa, AL and then spent the rest of his professional career at UAB and Center for Psychiatric Medicine. Roy loved working with people and music. During his younger years, he played bass in several bands. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, watching his sons play in the Homewood High School Band, watching ice hockey and University of Alabama football. But mostly, he loved to laugh. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank UAB medical services for the medical care he received throughout the years, and especially Dr. Khurram Bashir and his wonderful staff for the outstanding care and support given to Roy. They also wish to thank the many loving friends who were so supportive and caring during Roy's lengthy illness.

The family will receive friends on October 25, 2022, from 5 until 7 pm at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
