Priscilla Jean (Barton) McGuire, age 69, went home to meet her Savior on September 18, 2021. She was born September 14, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN. She lived in Nashville, TN, until 2015 when she moved to Birmingham, AL. She was a graduate of John Overton High School and received her teaching degree from Belmont College in Nashville. She met and married Gordon Gene McGuire and they built their life together in Nashville where they welcomed their daughter, Jammie, and son, Jay.
Priscilla spent much of her time as an educator. She was a third grade teacher at Franklin Road Academy before becoming an Educational Consultant for the Tennessee Career Ladder at the Tennessee Department of Education. Upon the conclusion of her career as an educator, she was an affiliate broker/realtor for Bob Parks Realty in Nashville.
Some of her passions included arts and crafts, traveling, spending time at the lake and the beach, and singing in the church choir. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her family and friends.
Her faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she was very involved in the churches she attended. She sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher for the Good News class at First Christian Church in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Blooming Blessings at Brentwood Baptist Church until her move to Birmingham, AL, where she attended The Church of the Highlands and was involved in a women’s Bible study.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon McGuire, and her parents, James and Julia Barton. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Jammie Ellen McGuire Dayhuff (Nathan) of Birmingham, AL, and James Conley McGuire (Kirby) of Nashville, TN, as well as six grandchildren, Noah, Ellie, Olivia, and Owen Dayhuff and Brayden and Bryson McGuire.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road, Brentwood, TN 37027.
