Lois Pauline "Polly" (Price) Owen

Age 96, of Birmingham, died at home surrounded by family on Thursday, February 17th, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1925. She graduated from Ramsay High School in 1943 and Birmingham-Southern College in 1947.

In 1947 she married the love of her life, Fred G. Owen, Jr., whom she met at Camp Winnataska. They shared 65 years of marriage.

She was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church, The Club, The Caxton Club, Coronets Dance Club and various other social clubs.

Her family and Camp Winnataska were the joys of her life. She loved organizing large family gatherings at the lake and her home. She had a friendly, outgoing personality and had a compliment for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Guthrie Owen, Jr. Also, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Margaret Price McCord and Florence Price Nix.

She is survived by her three children, Fred Guthrie Owen III, Mary Pauline Owen, and Daniel Meigs Owen (Susan), and a grandson Daniel Kelly Owen. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Ray Price Hughes (Joe) and Katherine Ann Price (KAP) Garmon and many nieces and nephews.

After a private family graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 23, in the Sanctuary, with visitation to follow.

We sincerely appreciate Natasha Gladney, Eunice Muya and Marie Walker for their loving care of Polly. We also express gratitude to Hope Hospice for their services.
