Joseph Bernard Schilleci Jr.

Joseph Bernard Schilleci, Jr. died May 19, 2016 at age 71. He was born on October 15, 1944 in Birmingham, AL and attended John Carroll Catholic High School. Mr. Schilleci graduated from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Following graduation, he served two years of active duty in the army and numerous years in the reserves. Mr. Schilleci spent the first ten years of his career as a stockbroker with Sterne, Agee, and Leach before joining Supreme Beverage Company, the beer and non-alcoholic beverage distribution company founded in 1946 by his father. As Executive Vice President and later as President of Supreme Beverage, he grew the company’s territory and portfolio across north Alabama, all the while mentoring the upcoming third generation of family leadership.

Mr. Schilleci attended St Luke’s Episcopal Church. He was an avid golfer, and was a member at Vestavia Country Club and Shoal Creek Golf Club. Mr. Schilleci also enjoyed spending time with his family at Inland Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bernard Schilleci, Sr., mother, Mary Grace Romeo Schilleci, and brother, Charles Anthony Schilleci.

Mr. Schilleci is survived by his wife, Catherine Ann Elliott Schilleci; sons, Joseph Elliott Schilleci (Sara) and Phillip Favor Schilleci (Suelin); and grandchildren, Elliott Brewer Schilleci, Joseph Jacks Schilleci, Catherine Favor Schilleci, and Margaret Elizabeth Schilleci.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to either the Big Oak Ranch, Inc., P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 35146; or St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Road, Birmingham, AL 35213; or the charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Road in Mountain Brook at 11:00am on Monday, May 23, 2016 with visitation preceding it at 10:00am in Graham Hall.
