Father Robinson attended St. Paul's Grammar and High School in Birmingham and St. Bernard Minor Seminary in Cullman. He graduated Mt. St. Mary's Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1954 and was ordained May 27, 1954, St. Paul's Church, Birmingham, Alabama by Archbishop Thomas J. Toolen.
Father Robinson served as Assistant Pastor to St. Paul Parish, Birmingham; St. Mary Parish, Mobile and St. Peter the Apostle, Birmingham. He was Pastor of St. Bridget Parish, Whistler; St. Joan of Arc Parish and St. Monica Parish, Mobile. He served as Pastor of Holy Family, Mobile from 1970
to 1982 and returned in 1986 where he served until he retired in 1998. Father Robinson moved to Birmingham in 1998 to be closer to his family and was in Residence at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church from 1998 until 2016.
He also served as Chaplain, Birmingham Southern University Newman Center; Director of the Archdiocesan Pontifical Missions Society (Propagation of the Faith, Missionary Co-op, Holy Childhood Society) and many other ministries for the Church. He attended Notre Dame Center for
Clergy Education from 1985 to 1986. He was a resident of Mount Royal Towers until his death.
Father Robinson was predeceased by his parents, Hugh J. Robinson, Sr. and Mary Ellen Robinson as well as five brothers, Bert H. RoMnson, Hudson L. Robinson, Hugh J. Robinson, Jr., Lewis J.
Robinson and Samuel P. Robinson; two sisters, Edna M. Cox and Sister John Mary Robinson. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, October 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
