Joan Hill was born October 11,1922 in B'ham, Al. to the late Elizabeth Allen Hill and Robert Newton Hill. After losing her parents at a young age, she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law and became an important part of their family. She worked for many years in retail, starting with Pizitz, McRae's, and Touching You. She was a talented seamstress, cook and enjoyed playing the piano. More than anything, she was devoted to her family and delighted in her nieces, nephews, and their children. She was a member of Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hill Robinson and brother-in-law Sidney Dudley Robinson, infant niece Yvonne Hill Robinson, nephew Franklin Duke Robinson, and her nephew Wayne Allen Robinson's wife, Diane Knighton Robinson.
She is survived by her late nephew's wife, Louise Tartt Robinson (Gulf Shores), niece Helen Annette Robinson Weber and her husband Bill (B'ham) niece Sydney Robinson McClain and husband David, Columbia, TN, and nephews Wayne Allen Robinson (B'ham) as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and their children.
A graveside service will be held at Forrest Hills Cemetery on March 31, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Mountain Chapel U.M.C., Big Oak Ranch or a charity of your choice.
