Kenny White, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on November 30, 1959, in Florence, Alabama, USA to Nelda Gay White and James Kenneth White I.
Kenny attended Fayette County High School, Class of 1978. He then attended Brewer State Junior College obtaining an A.S. degree in Pre-professional Science, Class of 1980. He completed his education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a B.S. in Natural Science and Mathematics, Class of 1984.
Kenny was a former Medical Technologist and Clinical Laboratory Scientist for a family practice clinic for over 15 years. He subsequently worked as a Service Technician at Med Center Mazda for 16 years. He was known for his dedication, expertise, and hard work throughout his career.
Kenny was a kind, intelligent, and selfless individual who enjoyed helping others. He was always willing to assist with a home project, provide maintenance on a car, or even just provide a listening ear and advice. He would only ever accept a kiss or a hug, maybe a meal for his time. He enjoyed a variety of cuisines and knew many restaurant owners in and around Birmingham. He had a passion for the arts including regularly attending symphony performances, listening to his favorite artists on his home stereo and speaker system, photography and drawing/painting in his earlier years, and watching films with his daughter or friends. He loved the outdoors including hiking, long walks around the city of Birmingham, bird watching, and gardening. He was an avid reader and always had a passion for learning and sharing this knowledge with others. He was the founder of The Birmingham Atheists Meetup Group which allowed him to connect with others who shared similar beliefs and viewpoints. Most importantly, he treasured the time he had with his family including his two identical twin grandsons, Aaron and Liam.
Kenny is survived by his daughter, Jamie White Fisher, son-in-law, Brian Charles Fisher, grandsons, Aaron Charles Fisher and Liam James Fisher, several beloved aunts, an uncle, and cousins as well as many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nelda Gay White, father, James Kenneth White I, and brothers, Lloyd Gregory White and Bryan Gay White.
A reception honoring the life of Kenny will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
