Jack Howard Krueger, age 94, of Birmingham passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2024. He was born on September 27, 1929, in Denver, CO, graduated from Sheridan Grade School in Elgin, IL in 1947, and The University of Alabama in 1952 where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1954 and then returned to Birmingham to begin his business career with IBM. He was named IBM Salesman of the Year in 1955 and worked there until 1964. In 1964, he began working in the brokerage business, working with Andresen & Co. (1964-1969), A.G. Edwards & Sons (1969-2007), and Wells Fargo Advisors until he retired at age 90 (2007-2019).
In 1956, Jack married the love of his life, Del Cabaniss Krueger, and they shared 52 years of love and devotion. Jack was a member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club and Mountain Brook Club, playing golf with Matthews’ Marauders. He was a huge Alabama fan, held season tickets for over 50 years and regularly attended Alabama basketball games until recent years. Other passions were playing gin with his buddies several days a week, traveling the world with his family, and being a wonderful grandfather.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Cabaniss “Del” Krueger, and is survived by sons Jack H. Krueger, Jr. (Cindy), William G. Krueger (Janet); and grandsons William Gerry Krueger, Jr., and Nathaneal Garner Krueger.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Thursday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. The Krueger family is especially thankful for David, Ronald, and Nancy Harris for their devotion and service.
