George C. Parr

George Christopher Parr , age 85 of Hoover, Alabama passed away on December 20, 2022. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on September 15, 1937. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and earned a degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University. After college, he served as an officer in the United States Army. He married the love of his life Mayre on March 14, 1964 and they spent 58 wonderful years together. George and Mayre attended Trinity Methodist Church together in Homewood, Alabama. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and ocean cruising. He also enjoyed sports especially Auburn football and basketball, and the Atlanta Braves. He is preceded in death by his parents George F. and Corinne (Snooks) Parr. He is survived by his wife Mayre; two children Jeanne Stadtlander (Christian) and Christopher Parr (Morgan); his grandchild Ethan and many friends. George’s burial was at the Alabama National Cemetery on December 23, 2022. A memorial service will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. on January 4, 2023. Visitation is before the service at 10:00 a.m.
