.Dr. Alpheus Monroe Deason, Jr., “ Bud’’, passed away Saturday April 9, 2011. Dr. Deason was preceded in death by his parents, Alpheus Monroe Deason, Sr. and Lillian Thomas Deason and his three sisters, Mary Frances Deason Higgins, Virginia Deason Moon and Marian Deason Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Crain Deason, daughter Bradley Deason Nabors (Doug) of Birmingham, his son David Monroe Deason (Susan) of Memphis, and his grandchildren, James Douglas Nabors, III and Mary Chapman Nabors of Birmingham and Anna Elizabeth Deason, Lillian Maye Deason and John Cooper Deason of Memphis.
Dr. Deason was born in 1933, in Birmingham and was a graduate of Ensley High School and The University of Alabama, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. Dr. Deason was also a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine and practiced urology in Birmingham for 30 years. He served stateside in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder.
A memorial service for Dr. Deason will be held Wednesday April 12, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
