On April 21, 1943, Anna Lee was united in marriage to Melvin L. “Curgie” Ferguson in California, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Anna Lee graduated as valedictorian of New Bloomfield High School in 1934. She was employed many years at the Callaway County Court House and with the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, from which she retired. A woman of strong faith, Anna Lee was a life-long member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer, pianist and member of the WMU. She belonged to the XYZ, Twilight Zone and Come-Join-Us Clubs. Anna Lee served many years as a board member of New Bloomfield Golden Village Retirement Center.
Anna Lee's survivors include nephew Ron Ferguson and his wife Shay of Overland Park, Ks.; niece, Judy McCann and husband Dennis of Riverhead New York; and her caregivers, Alice and Clete Kempker of New Bloomfield, and Brother Rick and Jeanne Hopkins of Hatton.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances and Grace who passed away in their youth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, with Brother Rick Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 9 am until the time of service.
In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests donations be made in Anna Lee’s name to Hopewell Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
