Jeff was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on April 24th, 1961, to Jack and Bernice Pearson. The family moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1969 and Jeff graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School.Spending time with family and fishing, as well as telling the proverbial “fish stories,” were Jeff’s greatest joys. He developed his love for water activities with his father and brothers early on, growing up on Pewaukee Lake boating, fishing, waterskiing and even ice shanty fishing. Once they moved to south Florida, as a family, the Pearsons went boating and fishing regularly. They participated in fishing tournaments and created many wonderful memories. Jeff even won a prize once for the strangest looking fish ever caught.
Jeff was very close to his father, following in his footsteps and going into business with him as a tile installer. He left an impression on his clients not only with his outstanding work – receiving prestigious craftsmanship awards – but also with his honesty, good nature and wit.
Jeff married Virginia (Ginger) Welsh in 2001. And their son, Jason, immediately became Jeff’s total pride and joy. Jeff loved spending time with Jason and sharing his love of family and the water with him. Jason quickly grew into being Jeff’s best friend and they enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool, laughing at Jeff’s antics and stories and just being around one another.
Jeff was unbelievably handy and very creative – able to fix or make almost anything, sometimes using unique parts and contraptions. He was also an amazing storyteller. He loved playing jokes on his loved ones and making people laugh. His skills as a craftsman, coupled with vivid imagination and ability with words made him an astonishingly capable prankster.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Ginger; son, Jason; sisters, Linda and Jody; brothers, Michael and Jack; and two nieces and two nephews. He touched our lives with his laughter and love and will continue to live on in our hearts.
Visitation and a tribute to Jeff’s life will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday March 5, 2022, at Fred Hunter’s – Ft. Lauderdale, 718 South Federal Highway, Ft Lauderdale, FL 33316. (954) 527-1550.
