Gordon was a first generation Floridian, born to Canadian parents. He enjoyed spending his summers in Canada. He has graduated from Chaminade-Madonna Catholic High School in 1988 to attend University of Florida & University of Central Florida. Gordon’s initial plan was to study medicine, but after taking an elective course in criminal justice, he found his passion and became a police officer, joining MDPD in 1996.During his career with the department he has held numerous positions, with the most recent being a captain at the Intracoastal district. During his tenure with the department he has shown what a true public servant should be, made many life-long friendships, and touched many hearts on both sides of the law.Gordon was a gentle giant, quiet and powerful, tough and empathetic, but above all selfless to a fault. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his furry companions despite of the numerous love bites and scratches.
Gordon’s hobbies were many. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, and supported them in all of their endeavors. Pat’s high school football and Alex’s lacrosse were his favorites - Go Number 77! Go STA Raiders! Go Davie Broncos! He loved his Miami Dolphins and FL Gators regardless.
He loved to travel, learn and experience different cultures and traditions. It was mandatory to learn Hello and Thank You in every language for every country he would visit. That’s about 40 different Hello’s and Thank You’s. He loved to cook, and what a chef he was! St. Paddy’s celebration at the Chapman’s became an institution, with everyone looking forward to it starting in October.
