Emile St. Clair, born on March 14, 1956, in “Kot defe” Oboy, Haiti, was a man whose life epitomized resilience, adventure, and love. The son of Duramo St. Hilaire and Immacula Cherenfant, Emile was one of 22 siblings raised in a farming family renowned for their abundant land and livestock. Despite humble beginnings, Emile's zest for life and his deep familial bonds set the foundation for an extraordinary journey.
Music played a central role in Emile’s early years. He and three of his siblings formed a guitar ensemble called Ecco’d Haiti. This passion for music became an integral part of his identity, even helping him court his future wife, Mariette, whom he serenaded outside her window. Their love story blossomed, eventually leading to a family and a lifelong partnership.
In 1975, seeking a better future, Emile left Haiti for the Bahamas. There, he laid the groundwork for his family’s new life. By 1980, his quest for opportunities led him to the United States, where he permanently settled. It was during this transition that he changed his surname to St. Clair, marking the beginning of a legacy that his family proudly carries today.
Emile’s adventurous spirit was matched by his vibrant personality. Known for his infectious energy and love of dancing, he often became the center of attention at family gatherings, spreading joy to everyone around him.
