Susan loved camping at Wilderness State Park, classic wooden boats; adored her many cats; the 28th street metro cruise, Blain's Farm and Fleet and Chinese food trips with Dan. She made many beautiful quilts for her family who meant the most to her. Susan loved visiting and laughing the most, she had quite the sense of humor and knew how to laugh at herself. Every month she took pride in the fact that she could pay her own bills and balance her checkbook to the penny.
Susan will be sadly missed with many good memories by: her children, Daniel Durst, Dianne (Rich) Bramer, and David (Kim) Durst; grandchildren, Michelle (Ryan) McMann, Jamie Durst, Katie (Dave) Jacobs, Stephanie (Vinnie) Baza, Richie (Leah) Bramer, David Durst, Eric Durst, Cody Hytinen, and Tyler (Becca) Tuttle; great grandchildren, whom she loved so much, Hunter, Addison, Mya Jacobs, Fiona, Vivian McMann, Quinn, Dimitri Baza, Warren Smith, and Amelia Bramer; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by: her husband of 59 years, Robert Durst; parents, Ross and Theodosia Kitzsteiner; brother, Robert Kitzsteiner; sisters, Emily Kruger, and Betty Droge.
We would like to thank Corewell Health Butterworth ER and ICU for the wonderful care she received. Thank you to her many neighbors who looked out for her daily and helped her with trash, mail, and were always there for her. A special thanks to Rick and Grace Hoekzema for going above and beyond when we couldn’t be there. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be to DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She requested no visitation or service, so we will also honor her wish.
