Lula was born to George and Elsie Smith on February 7, 1936 in Savannah, TN. She married Nick Lindsey on June 4, 1955 and they shared 67 wonderful years together. They had four children along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lula spent 45 years working at Nelis’ Dutch Village and loved sharing her joyful spirit with others. She was a longtime member of Holland Baptist Church, and will be missed by many.
She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, as well as great-grandmother. Lula was also known for her love of animals, as she has many grand-dogs who she loved very much.
Lula was preceded in death by her husband Nick; grandson Michael Wabeke; granddaughter Alexa Lindsey; five sisters; three brothers; several nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend and partner-in-crime Karen Jordan.
Lula is survived by daughter Jan (Lee) Wabeke; daughter Pam (Greg) Phillips; son Dave (Mary) Lindsey; son Jeff Lindsey; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lula is also survived by sibling Margie Smith of Tyronza, AR; sister-in-law Margie Valentine of South Haven, MI; and many honorary children and grandchildren.
Visitation for Lula will be held on Thursday, December 8, at 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for a luncheon and fellowship at Holland Baptist Church - 906 E 24th St, Holland, MI 49423. A private burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
