James Rollie Paulson

In the early morning of Thursday, April 27, 2023, James Rollie Paulson passed away in his home and went to Heaven to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Jim had courageously battled cancer for over 3 years with a positive attitude focused on living each day to its fullest.

Jim was born in Cadillac, MI on September 17, 1947, to Rollie & Ann Paulson and grew up in Standale, MI with brother Robert and sister Joanne. Jim graduated from Grandville High School, served in the United States Airforce, and married his high school sweetheart Evonne Laurae VanDeWeg. Jim and Evonne had four children and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Jim was known for loving God, caring deeply for family and friends, working hard, and giving generously. Having retired early from Consumers Energy he started a local business, Budget Blinds, that is celebrating its 20th year. Jim worked hard and played hard too... he loved to fish, hunt, spend time at his cottage on Diamond Lake, create to-do lists, and be with his family. He was a great storyteller and loved to laugh.

Jim is survived by: wife, Evonne, children, Lisa (Jason) Hovingh, Susan (Chris) Hofland, Lindsey (PJ) VanDyken, Mark (Andrea) Paulson. Grandchildren Trent, Laura (Mitch), Andrew (Evanne), Logan, Aaron (Alexandra), Grant, Lauren, Carter, Jax, Owen, Avery, Lennox, and Rollie. Great Grandchildren Milo and Norah. In-laws Henry & Nancy VanDeWeg and Gary & Renee Purman.

Preceded in death by parents Rollie & Ann Paulson, siblings Robert (Maryjane) Paulson & Joanne (Mike) Coyle.

A service to celebrate his life will be Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 3 pm at Central Wesleyan Church, (Please use entrance A or I) 446 W. 40 th St, Holland MI 49423. The service will be livestreamed at here:

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 pm.
