With the generous support of Hospice, James (Ken) Barfield went quietly into the good night on Saturday, June 12, 2016 in his home in Holland, MI. He leaves behind his wife of 20 years Lynda Larkin-Barfield; daughter Mara Chase of Dallas, TX; son Royce Barfield of Edina, MN; and stepson John Larkin of Jenison, MI. He was preceded in death by his son, Dana Barfield of Rowlett, TX.
Ken dedicated his working life to the construction industry as an Estimator, Construction and Project Manager, Chief Engineer, and Executive Vice President. He specialized in pre-construction and construction services for waste water treatment plants, power plants, chemical processing plants, medical care/hospitals, and food processing.
He loved the great outdoors and despite being teased that the Indian translation for Barfield was "Fishes Without Fish" (ala "Dances With Wolves") he relished any opportunity for hunting or fishing.
A kind and generous man, Ken will be missed by many. He was a good neighbor, and a kind and loving husband and father.
Per his request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation is asked to consider Headin’ Home Pet Rescue (185 Panther Drive, Holland, MI 49424) or Hospice of Holland.
