Dean was born in Rapid River, MI May 23, 1929. He graduated from Rapid River and later the University of Maryland. Dean was a veteran of the United States Army, later spending a majority of his career serving as a Federal Civil Servant in Germany. Following retirement, he managed an apartment building in Germany. While in Holland, he attended Peace Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ilse in 2018; daughter-in-law Marsha Lind; brother Wendell “Bob”; and sisters Elaine and Mary Rice.
Dean is survived by his children Mark Lind of Holland, Jenny Lind of Frankfurt, Germany; relational grandchildren Thomas, John, and Dan (Kim) Dekker; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Christal Bischof of Frankfurt, Germany; first cousins, Dell Jean Kadletz, Gordon (Louise) Lind, Shirley Olson, Mary Ann (John) Parrott, Doug (Pam) Schroeder, Linda (Ron) Sliktas; nieces Ailene (John) Buchtrup, Norene Lind, Christina Duncheskie, Jenny (Ron) Lind, Karen Lind, Marry Ferreira, Donna (Cam) Nichols, Elizabeth Hendrixson; nephews Bob (Julie Rohrer) Lind, Jim (Alicia) Rice, Jeff Rice, and Scott Rice; many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 3:00pm on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church, 389 James St., Holland, with a service to follow at 4:00pm at the church.
A graveside service with interment will take place at 2:00pm, May 22, 2022 in Rapid River Cemetery, Rapid River, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Peace Lutheran Church (Holland), Calvary Lutheran Church (Rapid River) or to St. Labre Indian School (Ashland, MO)
