Steve was born in Hamilton, Alabama, on December 24th, 1966, to William and Linda Potts. Even as a young boy, he was quick-witted and cared deeply for the people around him. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1985 with a degree in Business. While in college, Steve worked countless jobs, joined the fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha, enjoyed many ‘Natty Lights’, made many friends, and fell in love. On June 6th, 1992, he married his best friend, Barbie Potts. On July 16th, 1998 and April 18th, 2001 respectively, he welcomed his two children into the world, who he loved dearly.
Steve was a devoted father, loving husband, talented chef, music lover, and film enthusiast. He passed on his love of music to his daughter by taking her to every concert she ever wanted to go to, and he passed his love of film on to his son by taking him to his first movie. He encouraged his wife’s love
of music as well by taking her to see her favorite artist, The Who. He took a week off of work every summer when the kids were young to make sure they got to enjoy all of their favorite activities before school started. He worked almost every single day of his life, and he cherished his employees deeply and treated them like family. To know Steve was a blessing, and to be loved by him was a privilege and an honor.
A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Mizpah Sanctuary on McCallie Avenue. Rabbi Craig Lewis and Chaplin Kevin Becker will co-officiate. Steve will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.
