Shirley Ann Walker, 71, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on August 25, 1946 to the late Phillip Alfred and Audrey Mae Paddyaker Jones, Sr. Shirley and her family moved from Cache, Oklahoma to Ozark, Alabama in 1954 where she lived until 1970 when she moved to Chattanooga.
She was active in the Lakeside Youth Association where she served as President of Dixie Youth Baseball, minor and major leagues for many years and was also a Dixie Youth Baseball Commissioner. Her love for her these children was boundless.
She later became active in ESA-Alpha Beta and also served as President and other offices. Shirley through ESA and with her many sisters in ESA, volunteered many hours to St. Jude and other charities.
She attended Clopton Methodist Church in Clopton, Alabama and St. John’s United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Shirley was an elder in the Comanche tribe in Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Alfred (Regina) Jones, Jr.
Shirley is survived by Larry Walker and her children, Phillip C. Walker and John Patrick (Kathreen) Walker; granddaughter, Audrey Rose Walker and grandson, Caried Lee Walker; brothers, Phil Benton Jones of Ozark, AL and Harve Daniel(Wendy) Jones of Bakersfield, CA; uncle, Carl (Bowe) Paddyaker of Lawton, Ok; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, November 8, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will follow at 6 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel.
