Mr. Robert M Stockburger Jr.

Robert M. Stockburger Jr., 83, departed this world on January 13th, 2022 in order to be reunited with his wife in heaven. Born on February 3rd, 1938, Robert spent his entire life as a resident of the Chattanooga area where he met and married Glenna in 1968. They were married for 51 years and raised two children, Gina and Robert D. Stockburger, before he was promoted to the senior rank of “Papaw” by his two grandchildren.

Robert was retired from the Tennessee American Water Company and was a proud member of UWUA Local #121. In his free time, he was a fan of fishing, NASCAR, baseball, college football, card games and any western movie or show. He was a true fiscal conservative and always managed his money well unless the family was on vacation. It was during those family trips he had to be closely monitored by mom.

He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2015 around the same time Glenna was beginning her struggle with cancer. Up until her death, they both did an amazing job taking care of each other by using individual strength to counter weakness. She was the brains and he was the muscle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Stockburger; parents Verda Smith and Robert M. Stockburger Sr. and his five siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Gina (Alan) Frye; his son, Robert (Alexandrea) Stockburger: two grandchildren, Katelyn and McKenzie Frye; and lifelong friends, Jim and Carolyn Morgan.

The family will hold a private service to honor his life and strongly request making a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers. This request is not to be taken lightly. It is a meaningful and beneficial may to help cure a horrible disease that affects so many families.

A special thanks to Dr. Lydia Speer, Dr. Amar Singh, Dr. Robert Graham, Morning Pointe East Hamilton (especially Lorraine Bond), the many heroes at Life Care Center of Ooltewah and Hearth Hospice (Lauren) for helping Dad at some point in his last years. You helped make his remaining time worth it. I cannot describe how much we are going miss you Dad, you did well.
