He was born August 10, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Mary Mullin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Mullin.
He was a graduate of Leo High School. Mr. Mullin earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, a Masters in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois and earned an MBA from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
Mr. Mullin retired as a captain from the US Naval Reserve and as a Nuclear Engineer from TVA after 33 years of service. He served as commissioner and mayor of Lakesite, Tennessee. Bob also served on the board of directors for CARTA and was chairman of the board of directors for the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifelong member of the St. Jude Parish.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jeannine; children, Dr. Kim Mullin (Patrick Henkle), John Robert Mullin (Margaret), David Mullin (Kim) and Dr. Chris Mullin (Layla); brother, Jack Mullin, (Geri); sister, Maura Flannery (Jack); sister-in-law, Diane Mullin; grandchildren, Lieutenant Connor Henkle (Laura), Alexandra Troyer (Braeden), Sophie Cobb (Blake), Grayson Mullin, Nathanial Robert Henkle, Packy Mullin (Fiancée Emma), Gaby Mullin, Ellyse Henkle, Marlee Mullin (Fiancée Hunter), Lucas Mullin, Kaylee Brown (Janson), Scout Mullin; great grandson, Asa Troyer; nieces and nephews, Tammy Buday (Robert),Greg Mullin (Christine), Mark Mullin, Kevin Flannery (Karen), Erin Chumley (Ken),Sean Flannery (Julie) and Brian Mullin (Cindy).
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 8:30 till 11:00 Thursday, April 4.
Funeral mass will be 11:30 am Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Nolan and Msgr. Al Humbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
