Dr. Philip Jerome Nunnally

After a long five years battling Alzheimer’s Disease, Philip J. Nunnally, D.D.S passed away early on the morning of December 14th, 2024, at the age of 72. Phil was born on July 21st, 1952, to Gladwyn and Emily Howard Nunnally of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended Bess T. Shepard Elementary School and Tyner Junior and Senior High Schools. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and received his bachelor’s degree. He acquired his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences. He practiced as a General Dentist for 42 years in Chattanooga and was known as a kind, compassionate dentist who loved his patients as if they were family. He was a member of the East Ridge Church of Christ, Chattanooga Area Dental Society, the Tennessee Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. In 2018, Phil received The Thomas E. Braly Sr. Memorial Achievement Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladwyn and Emily, niece Sharon Denise Silva, and nephew, Ozzyiel Nunnally. Phil is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Nancy Roy Nunnally; daughter Rachel (Matthew) Manning; sons Brandon (Amber) Nunnally and Adam Nunnally; Grandchildren: Jacob Elliott, Abigail Manning, Clara Nunnally, and Eleanor Nunnally. Sister Sylvia (Sam) Silva of Ooltewah, brother Arthur (Judith) of Australia, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 19th, from 4 - 7 PM and Friday, December 20th, from 1 - 2 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson, with funeral services commencing thereafter.

Burial will be held at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 Hwy 153 Chattanooga, TN 37343.
