He was one of three triplets who were born at home in Hartford, Kentucky. He was born on June 19, 1939. Orville was the oldest boy of thirteen children. He was the son of a coal miner and was raised in the Baptist faith. Orville was a very hard worker and until the age of 21 he worked in the mines and cornfields of Echols, Kentucky. He moved to Griffith, Indiana in the early sixties and began working with his Uncle Leon. Later he worked for the Town of Griffith, Local #142 as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired at age 65. When Orville moved to Hixson, TN to live with his son Justin, he really enjoyed spending time out on the boat on the Tennessee River. Also, throughout his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, Nascar, Law and Order, Andy Griffith. Hee-Haw, the Grand Ole Opry, McDonalds Hamburgers, and a cold beer. His favorite singer was Johnny Cash.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Gradie Huff, his sisters, Lula Mae, Tanya Daugherty, Kay Daugherty, and Delores “Faye” Johnson, brothers, Shelby Glynn, and Cecil Huff, and daughter -in-law Irene Huff.
He is survived by his sons, Allen Huff of Des Plaines, IL, Justin (Kathy) Huff of Hixson, TN and his daughter Ghee “Nicole” (Zack) Escobedo of Chattanooga, TN, he was the grandfather of seven grandchildren, great grandfather of nine great grandchildren, as well as brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Saturday October 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM EST. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM EST until service time.
Memorials may be made to the family or Hearth Hospice.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Hearth Hospice, especially his kind and compassionate nurse, Daniel Capshaw, and his kind and compassionate aide, Teresa Mead.
