Mrs. Nova H. Parrott

Nova Hixson Parrott went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2010. Born: March 19, 1919. She was a direct descendant of the founding family of theHixson Community. She was a member of the Middle Valley Baptist Church and a graduate of Hixson High School in 1937 and McKenzie College.

A devoted mother, she raised her six children single handedly with some assistance from her mother and brothers. Her love of the outdoors was well known. She preferred to be outside anytime working on her flowers and yard. She also had a great love for animals especially her dog and cat. Her work ethic was admirable. She enjoyed piecing quilts which she gave many to her family. Another love was to be working in the garden to prepare fresh vegetables to preserve and share with others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David Stringfield and Isabell Pendergrass Hixson, son, Jerry Lee Parrott, brothers, Solone, Stanley, Alvin, Noel, Braxton, Malcolm, Alton and Lestious Hixson. She is survived by her children, Roland (Charlotte) Parrott, Lamarr (Edna Mae) Parrott, Rebecca (Bill) Poole, Roy (Melanie) Parrott, and Donnie (Darlene) Parrott.

Grand-children, Scott (Karen) Parrott, Kimberly (Dwayne) Hickman, Theresa (Doug) Taylor, Dennis Parrott, Stacey Parrott, Ansel Parrott and Shelly (Russ) Swart.

Great-grandchildren: Cristi Roberts, Greg and Scott Parrott, Holly and Kayne Hickman, Wesley Parrott, Cecily Agner, Noah Sansing, Russell Swart..

Great-great granddaughter: Elizabeth Agner.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Shumate officiating. Pallbearers: Bill Poole, Scott Parrott, Dennis Parrott, Kayne Hickman, Greg & Scott Parrott, Doug Taylor, Russ Swart. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment in the Foster Hixson Cemetery.
