Megan McCullah Burrows

Megan was the daughter of Dan and Faith Rutherford McCullah and sister to Cody McCullah. After Megan graduated from Campbell County High School as class valedictorian in 2002, she went on to study biology and received her bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University. She continued her education at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia graduating with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.

After graduation she started her first job with her mentor and friend Dr. Syed Amir at Pediatric Choice Clinic in Jacksboro, Tennessee. This kickstarted her career in the care of children. Her love in this field took her to her current position at Siskin Children’s Institute of Chattanooga where she worked with children to assess developmental disabilities, including children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome. Megan is the current Chattanooga Region Director for the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants and is a graduate of the Leadership Chattanooga class of 2021.

In 2014, Megan met Michael Burrows. They married in 2016 and began their love story. On May first of 2023, their daughter Birdie Marie Burrows was born. She is a miracle baby that was Megan’s heart and soul. Megan cherished her baby girl.

Megan’s favorite activities were being with her friends and doing as much for them as possible. She was a water colorist and a home renovator with her husband and business partner. Her craft of choice was quilting. She made quilts for wedding gifts, babies, and graduations of her friends and family.

Megan was preceded in death by her grandfather Garland Rutherford and grandparents Jessie and Flemon McCullah.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Michael, her precious daughter, Birdie, “Momma and Dad”, Dan and Faith McCullah. Her favorite person in the world, her brother, Cody McCullah, his wife, Margie and their children Libby Lou and Samuel. Mother-in-law Gayle Burrows and father-in-law Micky Burrows and his wife Rita.

Funeral services will be held on Friday July 28, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Tony McAfee officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday July 27, 2023 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chance Dillon, Brass Dillon, Chris Emory, Nick Goins, Matt Murray, and Jordan Sikkema.

Honorary pallbearers will be Callie Broyles, Sara Rhoda, Jennifer Fisher, Summer Sikkema, Chrissy Murray, Charity Emory, Casey Skorput, and Lindsay Gorman.

In lieu of flowers Siskin Children’s Institute has created a Go Fund Me account for Birdie Marie in honor of her mother.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
