Mary F Woods

Mrs. Woods was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a graduate of Central High School.

Mary was saved and baptized at age 9 and was a faithful member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church. She served the church for decades in a variety of capacities. Throughout the years she worked with the juniors, youth, and WMU. She was a Sunday School director, church librarian, sung in the adult choir and participated in Young at Heart senior activities.

Though she never had children of her own, Mary helped care for and instill lasting values and lessons in her nieces, nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews, as well as countless other young people throughout her lifetime.

The Godly love story that she and her husband Ralph shared was an example to each of us of how to keep the Lord as your center and to love and cherish your spouse.

Aunt Mary also taught us how to care for others. She had a servant’s heart and selflessly put others first. She spent countless years caring for the people of her church as well as her family. She took her aging mother into her home and cared for her for the remainder of her life making sure she was never alone.

Mary also cared for her husband until his passing. She and her sister shared a special relationship, cared deeply for one another, and in their later years were practically inseparable.

Aunt Mary always pointed others toward Jesus through her words and actions. Her entire life and now legacy was about loving and caring for people while shining the love of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Madison and Nola Mae Foster; her brothers, Roy, Elmer, and Glenn Foster; her sister, Louise Foster Moon; and her husband, Thomas Ralph Woods.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor David Seymour officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Sunday and from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
