He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, and was a graduate of Tennessee Technological University. James was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was employed for many years with Ryder Truck Lines, and upon retirement happily portrayed Santa at the local Chattanooga shopping malls, as well as various out of town locations.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Strong Lusk; his mother and step-father, Geneva Buckner Ingram, and Judge Joe M. Ingram; father, William Peyton Lusk; and brother, William Andrew Lusk.
He is survived by his fiance, Dale Spear; children, Kevin Lusk, of Ringgold, GA, and Eric (Ashley) Lusk, of Murfreesboro, TN; sister; grandchildren, Chandler Lusk, Lindee Lusk, Drew Lusk, and Sarah Claire Lusk.
Funeral services will be conducted from Calvary Bible Church, at 4001 Mountain Creek Road, at 12:30 PM, on Wednesday April 24, 2024. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until service time at Calvary Bible Church.
