Estelle Daugherty Prigmore died on May 29, 2016 in hospice care at WellStar Community Hospice Tranquility in Marietta, GA. She was a long time resident of Chattanooga but moved to Powder Springs, GA after her husband, Fay, retired from Dixie Yarns. During WWII Estelle worked in the administration offices of Trans World Airlines in Washington, D.C. She was a den mother for both Brownie Scouts and Cub Scouts in the North River Community. She was active in the United Methodist Church in Chattanooga and taught Sunday School at Brooks Memorial UMC for many years. She was past president of the Women’s Society of Christian service at Brooks. Later she served in the Children’s Department at First-Centenary UMC
Estelle was the owner of E. Marsunita, a shop in Chattanooga which created custom clothing and bridal gowns. She served as a Red Cross volunteer for several years serving often in the emergency room. She was also a volunteer at the Siskin Foundation and the Meals on Wheels Program. An avid gardener, she had been a member of the Mimosa Garden Club of Powder Springs.
Estelle was preceeded in death by her husband, L. T. (Fay) Prigmore, of 62 years. Survivors include 3 children and their spouses: L.T. (Buzz) and Susan Prigmore, David W. and Bonita Prigmore, and Marsha P. and David Conrad. Six grandchildren: Shaun and Caroline (spouse) Prigmore, Hadley and Jason (spouse) Holcomb, Preston Prigmore, Tyler Conrad, Tanner Conrad and Fallon Prigmore. Two great grandchildren: Molly Prigmore and Jackson Prigmore.
Private graveside service for family will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First-Centenary UMC or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
