Emma Jean Cheng, 75, of Birchwood, Tennessee died February 28, 2016 at her home. She was born March 22, 1940 in Altamont, Tennessee to the late Kenyon William Riley Blevins and Violet Bradford Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Griffith, Sr and O. Cheng; daughter, Violet Stone; son, Kenneth Griffith.
Mrs. Cheng was an extraordinary gardener, she could grow anything anywhere. She was a huge baseball fan from watching her grandchildren in little league to watching Chipper Jones with the Braves. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to laugh and always had a story.
Survivors include son, Lee (Tresia) Griffith; daughter, Donna (Michael) Rice; brother, Lewis (Carol) Blevins; sisters, Brenda (Sonny) Davis, Eleanor Thomas, and Scarlett Whitaker; grandchildren, Dustin (Tina) Griffith, Adam (Sarah) Griffith, Dakota Griffith, Ashlee (Caleb) Crook, J.J. (Candice Cranford, Savannah (J.D.) Henao, Tyler Cranford, Melanie (Pae) Carlton, and Jeffery (Amy) Stone; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 Wednesday and from 1-3 Thursday.
