Eldon Leonard Cooper, 87, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017. He was a member of Dayton Church of Christ. Eldon was a retired Captain in the United States Marine Corps who served in the Marines for twenty-three years. During his service in the Marines he served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He also worked for Whitaker Transportation and Averitt Express. Eldon loved to fish, camp and play cards. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Leonard and Ethel Leone Cooper; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson and brother, Wayne Hall Cooper. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Alice Cooper; three daughters, Deborah Ann, Donna Lynn and Katrina Lorraine; three sons, Barry Eugene, Daniel Scott and Eldon Leonard, Jr.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Ryan; cousin, Gary Oxley; several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A funeral service to follow at 11:30 am at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel with Minister Steve Brown officiating. A committal service will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1 pm.
