Cynthia Williams

Cynthia "Cindy" Diane Pendergrass Williams, 72, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 1 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born and raised in Hixson, TN, and was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sisters; Cecilia and Jerrene, two daughters; Kristen and Elizabeth, and eight grandchildren; Hanna, Jessica, Justin, Madison, Jordan, Grayson, Ryan, and Isabella.

Whether you knew her as Cynthia, Cindy, C, Cup, or even “Wild Cup” to a few, her most treasured names were “Mama” and “Mamaw”. Cindy was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. If you knew her for any amount of time, you knew her pride and joy were her two girls and eight grandchildren.

She had a loving nature, the gift of gab, and even a bit of a mischievous side, being inclined to practical jokes and pranks. Her ability to connect with people made her extremely popular and well suited for her many customer service positions throughout the years at beloved local businesses such as; M&J, Ragland's, and Pruett’s. She eventually went on to work at JC Penney’s at Northgate Mall where she remained until her retirement.

Cindy never met a stranger and treated everyone she met with love and respect. She adored music, especially "The Oldies" and singing and dancing right along whenever the mood struck her.

For the last five years, she battled with Alzheimer’s which deteriorated her mind, but thankfully, her kind heart and sweet spirit remained intact until the end. We rejoice knowing she is whole in mind, body, and spirit now enjoying her heavenly reward with her Savior and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 11-1:30 Monday, June 6 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorial services will be 3:00 Monday at Fairview United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to Southeast TN Alzheimer’s Organization www.alz.org/tn.
