Edwin was born in Lupton City, Tennessee on September 10, 1942, He attended Sale Creek High School and graduated in 1960. He attended Kirkman Vocational School and graduated as a draftsman. He worked for Combustion Engineering Company and retired after 33 years. He then worked for Heatec, Inc. and Lowes for several years. Edwin was a member of Sale Creek United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Juanita Shipley Marler.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Slatton Marler, his daughter, Laura Beth Rodgers and her husband, Will. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Marler and his wife, Jayne. He is also survived by his two nieces, Jenny and Lauren, three great nephews and one great niece.
Edwin was a wonderful family man who took great care of his wife and daughter. He loved birds and kept six birdbaths full of water and also fed his birds every day. He had beautiful flowers all around his yard.
Edwin was a good neighbor and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
Nothing made Edwin happier than going fishing in his Bass boat. He has two 5-pound bass mounted on the wall of his den. Edwin was a lifelong New York Yankee baseball fan.
Edwin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Chattanooga

A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 2:30 PM following the visitation with Rev. Joseph W. Manis, Sr. officiating.
A committal will occur Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 TN-153, Chattanooga, TN 37343.
