Mr. Billy Lee Downey, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Billy was a native of Chattanooga, born on August 1, 1948 to the late Jasper L. and Anna L. Downey. He was a retired carpenter.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Brenda Ferguson and Linda Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marion Sue Downey, daughter, Kim Marie Massengale; son, Gary Lee Downey; son, Billy Lee Downey, Jr. (Cindy); grandchildren, Anthony Dewayne Massengale, Janice Marie Flanagan (Casey), Gary Lee Downey Jr., and Bryanna Downey; sister, Helen Miller; and brother, Jimmy Downey.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 pm and Friday from 12-2 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The funeral will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 2 pm with interment in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
