Nancy. Loving father of Christine Baker, Jeremiah Baker, and Margaret (Michael) Adams. Treasured
grandfather of Landon Mann, Lacey Mann, Aaron Adams, Samantha Adams, and Prylynn Adams. Dear
brother of Joanne (the late Jim) Jewell, Phyllis (the late Bob) Schmidenberg, Ruthie (Mickey) McFarland
and Nancy (Mike) Webb. Lloyd will be missed by numerous other family and friends.
Sgt USMC 1977 -1983 Lloyd Started out In Motor Transport With the 8th Engineers at Camp Lejeune NC. In 1979 He Changed MOS and went to PMEL for Calibration to become a Calibration Technician with HM&S 32 at MCAS Cherry Point. Lloyd went on deployment to the middle east and took part in the “Gulf Of Sidra Incident” aboard the USS Nassau. Lloyd was on its first voyage in 1981 as a Harrier Carrier.
After The service Lloyd Found Work with Comtel Standards Lab as a contract worker at Ford’s Diversified Products Technical Center.
1992 Lloyd establishes Ford as a member of the NCSL, with Lloyd as delegate for all of Ford.
2003 Lloyd leaves Ford for Dynamic Technologies. While with DTI Lloyd is assigned to the GM contract developing the Global Engineering Equipment Tracking system (GEETS).
2015 Lloyd is one of very few retained by GM from the long-term contract with Trescal (formerly DTI) to continue development of GM’s Global Engineering Equipment Tracking system (GEETS)
Lloyd is still a major part of NCSLI (formerly NCSL) and the automotive industries.
Lloyd was dedicated Metrologist and Regional Coordinator for NCSLI, a volunteer professional organization for metrology, the science of measurement. Where he represented Ford, Trescal, and GM over the years.
Lloyd was Scoutmaster troop 42 in White Lake for many years. He was also a part of the Boy Scouts
district training and roundtable staff and ran Okpic cold weather adult training. He was also trained at
the Northern Tier High Adventure scout base in Ely, Minnesota, as an outdoor skills instructor. Over the
years, he shared his boundary waters with over one hundred other people. He was awarded the Silver
Beaver for his many contributions to the scouting community.
He also has been a member of Chief Pontiac Programs for more than 30 years. He helped coordinate the
Chief Pontiac Trail backpacking programs, Little Brave Cub scout programs.
Lloyd was an avid re-enactor who belonged to several groups including the Sanford Brigade and the
Chief Pontiac Programs Committee, where he was the chairman of the Living History Village at the farm
center at Kensington Metro Park. Lloyd coordinated programs at the living history where he enjoyed
talking to village visitors and teaching colonial carpentry classes. He was always on the lookout for old
carpentry tools and enjoyed collecting them spending many hours at flea markets and antique shops. He
was a National Historical Interpreter member in good standing. He often did first-person interpretations,
including David Thompson and Ben Franklin for many local Historical societies. His participation in
re-enacting allowed him to exercise two of his other passions; woodworking and storytelling. He will be
greatly missed here but we all know that in Heaven he is telling our Lord the "Strike the pose" story!
He loved going back to Pennsylvania to visit historical sites and the area where he grew up. He
participated in reenacting particularly the 1700’s to 1850. He was an excellent historian and a nationally
certified historic interpreter and was an excellent first-person historical orator.
Lloyd Baker started at GM Proving Ground in 2005, as a Metrology (Measurement Science) Leader. Lloyd
installed a GM Global Metrology Tracking system and represented GM as a leader in the International
Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCLSi). He will be remembered fondly by all those he touched at
the Proving Ground and around the world. He was always willing to help and go beyond expectations, a
testament to the Marine ethos “Semper Fi”.
Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2019, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday,
November 2, 2019, from 10:00 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 am at the Highland
Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County, PO Box 245,
