She was born on December 1, 1954, in Marlette, Michigan to Richard and Donna Hodge of Snover, both of whom have predeceased her in death. She is survived by her spouse of 36 years, Gerard LaLonde of Commerce Twsp; brother Douglas (June) Hodge of Lapeer; sister Patti (John) Ostermiller of Frankenmuth; three nephews, Shaun Hodge of Lapeer, Tim (Andrea) Hodge of Lake Orion, and Devon (Audrey) Ostermiller of New York City; sister-in-law Carol Ann (LaLonde) (Terry) Shanks; Cord Nuoffer, Marci Nuoffer, and Christi (Marc) Bower; nephew and nieces of Gerard LaLonde.
Linda grew up on a dairy farm in Snover, Michigan. She was active in 4-H for 10 years where she began her hobbies of knitting, sewing, needlework and her beloved cows! She graduated from Marlette High School in 1973 and attended Alma College where she obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. She then obtained her Masters Degree in Finance from Walsh College, Detroit. Linda worked at several quality control labs before working for Ford Motor Company for 16 years. She was then employed by IBM for 15 years. Linda retired in 2015.
Linda’s adult life is remembered by her involvement in the United States Power Squadron (USPS) and her enjoyment of boating on the Great Lakes for 30 plus years. During her tenure with the USPS, she was the commander of the Dearborn Power Squadron and moved up to become the commander position of the United States Power Squadron – D-9 region, which is all of Michigan and part of Indiana. She made it her goal to visit all of the power squadrons during her command.
Linda and Jerry were also members of the Livonia Snowmobile Club and did many trips up to the U.P. of Michigan and Canada as well as a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
She was adventurous and loved life. She tried it all, from sky-diving to playing with wild animals in Canada to fondling a stingray. The friends she made along the way meant a lot to her – she enjoyed it all!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Burial will take place on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 12:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Henry Ford or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
