If there's one thing that could be said of James Fisk Thompson, it is that he had gardening in his blood. He spent his 86 years of life living and working on the land his father and grandfather had farmed. Born to James Russell Thompson and Beulah Irene (Fisk) Thompson on June 14, 1938 in Pontiac, Michigan he was one of two children. James was baptized and attended church at Commerce United Methodist Church. As a young man he met the love of his life there. He married Ann "Susie" (Griffin) Thompson on November 9, 1957 in that same church. They’ve shared 67 wonderful years together.
Jim and Susie went on to own and operate the Thompson Greenhouse and flower shop on Bogie Lake Road in White Lake, Michigan. Jim's true passion was his flowers. His yard to this day is cultivated with hundreds of beautiful flowers which he and Susie cared for. Although Jim's profession was a farmer and greenhouse owner Jim was also an inventor and problem solver. His yard is designed with various watering systems and drip lines, all engineered by Jim. Jim was generous with his talents and time to help maintain and improve things at both his church and at the Fisk Farm/White Lake Historical Society.
Jim was a lifelong member of the Commerce United Methodist Church. He was involved with PET "Personal Energy Transportation" where he contributed his welding talents helping manufacture transportation items for those in need. He was an active member of the White Lake Historical Society.
Jim leaves behind his wife Ann "Susie" Thompson; his children Dale Thompson, Jennie (Thomas) Drainville, Margaret Thompson and the late Michael Thompson; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; his sister Prudence (James) Bedford.
