Great loving memories of my Uncle Donny and my Godfather, he loved to laugh but was somewhat quiet, loved his cheesy popcorn and having us over in the summer time, watching Uncle Donny play baseball at the lighted field with my Dad at night under the lights. Uncle Donny was always a part of our family, He will be missed but always in our hearts.

Over a century ago this quiet gentle giant came into my life.  His name was Don Trombley and he was my sister’s new boyfriend. He had jet black hair, a great bronze tan, and those sparkling eyes.  Don always thought of me as a bit kooky, because I used to ask him for his torn up Wrangler work jeans with cuts and holes all over. I’m still wearing holy jeans! I have so many memories of him it would fill a book, but the one thing I know Is that he was one of the most descent human beings I’ve ever known. The last 10 years have been hard on him. He retired, became a golfer and a gardener, but that only lasted for a few years. Nancy’s medical problems became more severe and then his own health began to falter. This last year has been extremely hard with COVID:  He was always so tired. He had even lost that sparkle in his eyes. He knew his time here was ending and I believe he was at peace with that. I will always feel privileged to have loved such a wonderful human being and I will cherish our times spent together. Rest In Peace my big brother.

I have known Don for over 40 years and my husband, Bob,  has known him for close to 50. He was a true friend, the strong, tough as nails, silent type and at the same time a gentle soul. We have so many wonderful memories of going to softball parties at Don & Nancy's home in our younger years. We formed a very close friendship and decided that they both needed to be in our wedding, so many years ago.  Our kids were brought up going to Uncle Don's & Aunt Nancy's, going for boat rides,  tubing and also eating lots of M&M's.   Don's smile, quiet laughter and the twinkle in his eyes always warmed my heart.  You will be missed, Don.  Heaven has gained a very special angel.

Classmate , teammate, friend , an honest ,  caring , gentle man . There aren’t enough good adjectives to describe Don . You’re a son your parents would be proud of.  Your nice smile and gentle demeanor came from a good heart . 
Although your body betrayed you in many ways near the end , I never heard you complain .  You were a proud man that never asked for help and was always concerned that you were putting someone out that offered to help you . That’s just who you were. 
I’m proud to have known you and will always be honored to call you my friend .

Don was a true gentle giant.   He was a tough-ass Marine but for us kids he was a gentle soul.  I remember watching many Tigers games with Donny in the "TV Room" chewing on a bowl of M&Ms as a kid.  He loved his baseball and so do I even though the Tigers have not necessarily turned out to be the baseball team we all want...we always remained fans.   I wish Donny could see my son pitch now as I raise him in the baseball tradition.  I know he will watch from above.  He will be missed.  God rest his soul.

I recall in high school Don was an outstanding football player.
Don was friendly and treated everyone with respect.
The world and his family lost a good man !
