Bill was preceded in passing by his parents, Robert and Shirley (Doremus) Maine.
Bill was born on October 28, 1946, in Detroit, MI, to Shirley and Robert Maine. He graduated high school from Brother Rice Catholic High School while living with his family in Rochester, MI. At the centennial celebration of the city of Rochester, he met the love of his life, Barbara. They were married on September 4, 1971.
Bill and Barb began raising their three daughters in Lake Orion while Bill worked toward achieving a Master’s Degree in Psychology. After that, he worked for General Motors Company for over twenty years as the Employee Assistance Program coordinator at the Pontiac Truck and Bus plant.
He devoted much of his time sponsoring and mentoring individuals through Alcoholics Anonymous and ultimately expanded his professional counseling practice to help those struggling with addiction.
Most of all he enjoyed spending holidays with his family. His other hobbies and interests included genealogy, wooden boats, sports cars, music, guitar, coin collecting, and NASCAR.
At a very early age, he loved spending summers and weekends at the cottage on White Lake, where he would eventually build his dream retirement home. He was proud to give back to the place he had made so many memories by serving as the White Lake Citizen’s League president. He passed peacefully overlooking his favorite lake and was surrounded by his family.
