Mr. Dix was born December 2, 1924 in High Point to Markus Anthony and Mary Mitchell Dix. He had been a lifelong resident of this area and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Dix retired in 1987 from Carolina Upholstery after 21years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Dix was preceded in death by two sisters, Earline Smith and Sallie Johnson and one brother, David Dix. On October 10, 1942 he married Nellie Eller, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his daughter; Mrs. Ginger M. Rutherford and husband James of Wallburg and two sons: Donald Dix and wife Jeanette of Winston-Salem and Tony Dix and wife Cathie of Mt. Airy. Mr. Dix has one sister; Christine Hiatt of Thomasville. There are nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Ave. on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
