Marla Jo Wiedmann, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister,aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at the age of 52. Marla was a woman of exceptional grace, strength, and passion for life. Her unwavering love for her family and her commitment to her career left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Marla’s love for her family was boundless. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Charles Wiedmann, two cherished children, Ben Baker and Sara Baker, step daughter Melanie Wiedmann Frank, 3 step-grandchildren, Parker, Will and Ellie, her parents Alan and Earla Clark, her sisters Kami Keaton (NicoleFleming), Heather Cardwell (Chris Cardwell), her mother-in-law Mildred Wiedmann, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, her extended family and numerous friends. Her family meant the world to her, and she nurtured every relationship with warmth, kindness, and dedication. She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents Albert Earl Quick Sr and Edna Joan(Jones) Quick of Patoka, Illinois and father-in-law Donald P Wiedmann of Lewes, Delaware.
A woman who lived life to the fullest, Marla had an unyielding love for the outdoors, travel, and adventure. She reveled in the beauty of nature, whether hiking through mountains, relaxing by the lake and sea, or exploring new places around the world. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were contagious, and she encouraged everyone around her to embrace new experiences with enthusiasm. She was a member of Glenview Baptist Church in Kernersville where she taught Sunday School to the young and enjoyed her church family and their friendships.
Professionally, Marla was a trailblazer in her field. She served as Senior Vice President of People & Culture at Pepsi Bottling Ventures from March 2023 until her passing, having previously held the role of VP of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs at the company from June 2013 to February 2023. Her leadership in these roles was a testament to her dedication, vision, and commitment to excellence. Prior to her time at Pepsi, Marla had an impactful career in human resources, including her role as HR Director at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, where she made lasting contributions from 1999 to 2013. She also worked in human resources at Flowers Baking Company from 1994 to 1999. Marla was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University, Class of 1993, where she majored in psychology with a minor in business. She always valued the lessons learned there, applying them with empathy and insight in both her professional and personal life.
Marla will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but for the love and joy she brought to her family, friends, and colleagues. She lived her life with an open heart, always striving to make the world a better place for those around her. Her legacy of kindness, adventure, and leadership will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, intelligence, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her smile would light up the room. She had the greatest laugh that was infectious :so infectious that everyone would start laughing until we were all in tears!
A celebration of Marla's life will be held on November 30, 2024, visitation held from 10AM to 11AM, and the service beginning at 11AM at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations located at 976 Phillips Ave, High Point NC.
