Jewel Preston Greeson, 93, of High Point, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Jewel was born in Forsyth County to the late John Wesley and Ellen Catherine Wood Preston. She grew up in the Glenwood section of Greensboro where she met her husband Ralph Greeson who she married in 1939 and who predeceased her in 1993. Jewel was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in High Point and the McFarland Sunday School Class. She did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, was a member of Joyful Sounds, a band that played at local nursing homes, and she was an avid mall walker. Jewel was always doing nice things for people. She was a very kind, generous, loving woman, who was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, who never let Alzheimer’s rob her of her sweet disposition and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
Jewel is survived by a son Howard Ralph “Rick” Greeson Jr. and wife Suzan of High Point, NC, a daughter Sharon Greeson Wood and husband Brian of Dalton, Ga. and grandchildren Lesley Wood, Jennifer Kyle and husband James, great grandchildren Liam and Landon Wood and Tori Kyle, and a sister Elsie Stanley of Richmond,Va.
There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 2:00pm at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. There will be no Visitation.
