Bonnie Sue Grubb Johnson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Bonnie was born in High Point, North Carolina to Howard Lee Grubb and Frances Lee Thrower Grubb on February 7, 1958.
Bonnie is preceded in death by parents. Surviving Bonnie is her husband, Terry, sons; Jordan Roper (daughter in-law Megan) and Joshua Stafford, brother; Lee Roy Hicks (sister in-law Minerva) sister; Linda Cheshire, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Bonnie cherished and loved her family. She had a strong relationship with her siblings and spent most of her days with her devoted husband of 23 years, Terry. Her granddaughter, Lyndsai was the apple of her eye, and she adored her great grandchildren, Wesley and Phoenix. She loved family reunions at the farm in Mount Airy and trips to her happy place, the beach.
Bonnie spent 28 proud years as the property manager of Oakview Terrace Apartments where she was beloved by tenants and coworkers. After she retired, her heart was in her home surrounded by her dogs, husband, and grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to the Coalition for Unchained Dogs which helped build fences for their owners and supported local animal shelters. She had a passion for animals and rescued 11 dogs throughout her life.
Bonnie will be laid to rest at Floral Garden Park Cemetery at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 21. There will be a visitation with family and friends at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations at 1301 E. Lexington Avenue at 1:45. A Memorial Chapel Service will be at 2:30 in the Sechrest-Davis Chapel.
