With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Kolakowski, 81, who left this world on November 2, 2024. Born on June 26, 1943, to the loving embrace of John and Anna Kelly, Patricia’s life was filled with warmth, love, and laughter.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Kolakowski, with whom she shared a beautiful love story that spanned 44 wonderful years. Their journey began in Rego Park, New York, where Edward first asked her out on her birthday, setting the stage for a lifetime of cherished memories.
Patricia was a devoted mother to Kevin Kolakowski (Fumi Otomo), Keith Kolakowski (Analia Lo Dico-Kolakowski), and Kelly Faczan (Roland Faczan), and she held a special place in her heart for her late son, Brian M. Kolakowski. Her grandchildren—Alexander, Keira, Keanu, Liliana, and Daniel—were the lights of her life, and she adored every moment spent with them.
A dear sister to the late Thomas and John Michael, Patricia also shared a unique bond with her cousin Linda, who was like a sister to her.
Her vivacious spirit shone through in her youth as she excelled in high school basketball and baton twirling. In her later years, she found joy in bowling and the camaraderie of her ladies social club.
Faith was a cornerstone of Patricia’s life. A devoted parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle in Woodhaven from 1971 until 2022, she cherished her church community and the friendships she built there. Professionally, she brought her bright spirit to her work as a secretary for Catholic Charities and under the Director of Brooklyn Union Gas. Her gift of gab and genuine kindness made her a friend to all.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 17 Fordham Avenue, Hicksville, New York, with interment to follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Patricia's memory to the American Heart Association.
Patricia’s love, laughter, and radiant spirit will forever remain in our hearts. She was a bright light in our lives, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
