Joseph Vincent Grasso

Joseph Vincent Grasso, aged 83, of Valley Stream, New York, passed away on September 1, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer and dementia. Joseph was the beloved husband of Maria Grasso and a loving father to Vincent (Cindi), Joseph (Diane), and Gary (Kerri). His presence will be profoundly missed by his cherished grandchildren—Christine, Vincent, Joseph, Jennifer, Gabriella, Gianni, and Christina—as well as his great-grandchildren, Gwen, Jaxson, Elliott, Mila, Luca, and his goddaughter Helen.

He is survived by his dear sister, Vincenza Russo, and was predeceased by his sister Rose Ann Rockson and his brother Louis Grasso.

Born on St. Joseph's Day in Brooklyn, Joe was a talented man who enjoyed working with his hands. He was known in the business community as the owner and operator of Monarch Appliques where he began working at age 19 and became the owner just over a decade later. Even outside of his work, Joe was forever tinkering with something new. He learned woodturning, carving, blacksmithing, and computers. He combined those skills with his love of birdwatching, dogs, antique tools, nature and time with his family. He never stopped moving. Above all, Joe loved to laugh, to learn, and to create. Part-time craftsman, part-time naturalist, part-time computer scientist, Joe was full-time loved. His many talents are carried on through his children and their children alike, all of whom will miss him deeply.

A memorial service to honor Joseph’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801.
