It is with great sadness we share the passing of Jean F. Jackson. She was born and raised in New York and passed into heaven on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the age of 91.
She loved her family and friends and really liked to see and be in touch with everyone. She loved playing cards and bingo with her family and with friends at her clubs in Florida and New York. She loved to travel both domestically and internationally. She traveled to Italy and Hawaii as well as Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, Texas, upstate New York and California where she was able to visit many places and sites at those locations. When she was at home or visiting, she could always be seen on her laptop playing Solitaire, doing Word searches in books, reading, working on puzzles, watching game shows on TV, and looking at pictures. Her day sometimes consisted of talking with family while sitting inside or outside looking at plants and flowers. Over the last several years, she loved spending time with each of her four kids and their families as well as staying in her house in Hicksville NY. She enjoyed the beach and swimming as she loved the water. She went to church with family and listened to music.
She attended St. Joan of Arc grammar school in Queens and Dominican Academy High School in Manhattan as well as attended secretarial school. She was employed by American Airlines prior to her marriage. She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. Later, she worked for the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department, Sterns and Macys department stores.
Mom was a kind person and always willing to help anyone. She was always happy and loved seeing family especially during the Holidays.
She is pre-deceased by her parents James and Jean Rutig, husband Robert E. Jackson, Sr, her sister Ann “Honey” Nicholas, and grandchildren Danielle “Dani” and Robert “Bobby” Jackson III. She is survived by her daughters Jean VanDyke and Anne Sexton, her sons Rob and Mike Jackson, her son-In laws Brian Van Dyke and Thomas A.
